Dawn -Challenge today:

This is my challenge: Finding time to eat, let alone eat right on my busy days. I am a massage therapist, and my clients are scheduled 1/2 hour apart. That doesn't really give me the time between to eat a good lunch. By the time they get off the table, I chat w/them, change and clean up for the next client, I can usually swill a drink down and take a deep breath before the next client arrives.

So far, I have been able to give myself a hour break at lunch, and brought snacks to the office, but the receptionist booked me full on from 11:30 right thru til 4 with my first hour break then my last client at 5.

I have already eaten breakfast, will walk on the ski machine for a bit, and make a smoothie for a snack, but it looks like lunch will be at 4 pm. Which then means I will be hungry for a meal not a snack by 8.

Any suggestions or ideas? Other than just blocking that time in my schedule book so it DOESNT get booked? LOL! Which I hate to do as well, my business has slowed down the last couple of months, so have to take them when they book'em. :)

Love and Laughter,
Dawn

The baby J

Well my first blog so I have lots of good intentions about losing weight but I have a hard time following through, although I have made a major accomplishment, about 2 yrs ago i weighted roughly 250 lbs and I lost it by doing the slim fast diet and I've actually to my amazement kept the weight off. So I think that will be my game plan to do slim fast again. Its easy for me to do b/c I am the only one in my household so I don't have to worry about having all those temptations in the house for other people!! I am excited that my family and I have decided to jump into this whole heartedly I can't wait to see the outcome, the new sexier divas, because we are already sexy!!!

Our Essay-Our Motivations

bigloserlogo

The 3 of us have always battled with our weight over the years. Food has always just been a way of enjoying life. Food meant happier times so when things weren’t always so happy we would naturally seek out what made us feel better.

We are all at different stages in our lives, but it seems like we all want to and are ready to lose weight.

Growing up, one of the things we used to be called was Crisco-Fat in the can. We decided to name our challenge- No more Crisco, no more fat in the can. We laughed when we named it, but I think beyond the humor of it, we are going to be shedding any of the hurts and emotions that came along with being overweight and I think that is why our team SHOULD win-we are going to change from the inside - out!

Dawn-eldest child-I have always been overweight. The last time I weighed 120 lbs was in 6th grade. The reason I think that we should win this challenge is because I am ready to face WHY and take the necessary steps to make the changes in my diet-spiritual, emotional and physical. My motivation is to be healthier, to get off of insulin, to lose the belly fat and thereby take pressure off of my low back. I had a car accident 2 years ago that resulted in back surgery and it’s been a long recovery and I have come a long way, but I feel that my excess weight does hold me back from complete healing.

Carol-middle child-Typical yo yo dieting and some health issues on top of that definitely affected my metabolism. I have a wonderful husband who is a soldier in the army and a 18 year old and they are my main motivations. I enjoy living life and I approach everything with enthusiasm. My main hobby right now is my mini cooper and losing weight will make my adventures easier and fun as my health will be improved with the weight loss.

Jessie-youngest child-Actually, I grew up not really having a weight problem. I was pretty slender right up until after my marriage. Once the weight came on, it has been difficult to take off and keep off. Yo Yo dieting and exercising. My motivation to lose weight is to look and feel better.

Our plan: Plan, Move, Motivate and Accountability. Watch us and see!

Dawn's recap

I bought some fruits and stuff to begin making some smoothies. But this little machine can do so much more than that, and I think I can even start to make some veggie drinks too.. ( do NOT even know where to start with those, lol!)

This morning I made a fruit smoothie:

1/2 c. frozen fruit,

1/2 c.  lite yogurt,

1/2 c. soy milk, ( I am trying soy this week to see if that helps with my stomach issues)

2 tbs. wheat germ,

2 tbs. veg. protein powder

I did end up sprinkling a little splenda in it, It tastes 'ok'..just ok.. Maybe I put to much healthy stuff in it? LOL! Yesterday I made a blackberry one, minus the protein powder and added a tbs. of flax oil. That did taste good.

Yesterday's meals and activities: http://fitday.com/webfit/publicjournals.html?Owner=dawnzlight&Year=2008&Month=0&Day=9

Nightime is a killer for me, I hate it. That's when I emotionally eat. I can be strong and focused ALL day, but seems like it all goes out the window when the sun goes down. Thats my struggle currently.

Updated intro-Jessie has joined us too!

Carol Ann, Jessie and Dawn

Dawn here: Our sister Jessie has joined us making us a trio of sisters that are going to support and encourage one another. Jessie will be blogging later to give her bio or goals or chat. Yay..the 3 muskateers.   I am so glad we are doing this together. Some days will be harder than others and to have the support is going to be key.

I have decided that my eating plan is going to be a lower carb, low fat plan. I have bought a new personal size blender and some fruit to make veggie drinks and smoothies with yogurt and am looking forward to experimenting with them.  My calorie goal for the day is minimum of 1000 and max of 1500. I am going to work in goal increments of 10 lbs. I tend to lose weight slowly so I don't want to get discouraged and by setting mini goals I think it will be more manageable for me.

My weaknesses: Not very good at sticking to fitness schedule

After dinner snacking/eating

My strengthes: Drinking plenty of water

Getting massages :)

My meal summary from yesterday can be found here:  http://fitday.com/webfit/publicjournals.html?Owner=dawnzlight&Year=2008&Month=0&Day=8

Dawn here-our intro!

100_0388

Ok, here it goes... and I mean WE want it to go, all that extra weight!  We named our Blog no more crisco, because we don't want any more fat in our cans, but it really is much more than that. We want to live. We both have some health issues and they aren't going away on their own!

A little bit about Carol-I am 39 years old mother of an 18 yr old , wife of a soldier. I love to mess around on the computer, and camp and of course drive my lil mini cooper.

A little bit about Dawn-I am 43, married 21 years and living in Atlanta GA area.  I have diabetes and have had to have back surgery due to a car accident. While I have come a long way since the surgery, carrying this excess weight is not helping the situation at all and I am prepared to deal with it, rather than burying it under fat clothes and excuses.

So, read on, we will share our pain, our joys, and our journey as we shed the weight and become healthier each day!

lazy fat bastard

I saw a show on BBC America, about weight loss and the like. The doctor on this show asked the woman why she weighed so much. Her reply was she was a lazy fat bastard. Im not a bastard, but I am lazy. I am ready for this journey. I am lucky not to have to try to do this myself. I have so many reasons why I want to do this, and it's not just a want it's a need. I need to do this for me.. for my husband, my son and my family. I need and will do this.
